Sundays are the perfect days to rest, reset, and get ready for the week ahead!
I usually like to sleep in on Sundays if I can. My husband typically gets up a little early and will go play Pickleball at the local park. Did I already mention his Pickleball addiction?
Then, after getting up after I feed the dogs, I like to make some coffee and then sit down and journal for at least a few minutes. I try to be consistent with journaling, but the fact is that sometimes I forget to do it for a week or so, and that is okay! You don’t need to beat yourself up just for falling off the wagon.
Just dust yourself off and start again!
I feel like there is this constant push and need to be PERFECT, and that is simply unachievable and only leads to burn out.
My advice is to find a cute notebook at Target or on Amazon or wherever else you typically shop. You can even get a super cheap notebook at the Dollar Store if you want to! I just personally find that if something looks good and I think that it is cute, I find myself more likely to actually use it.
Next after journaling and my coffee, I like to start cleaning the house. I typically start in the kitchen and make sure all of the dishes are done, the dishwasher is started (if need be) and I wipe down the kitchen counters.
I will then vacuum or mop the floors if they need to be done, and then I will vacuum and tidy up in the living room.
It helps me when I have some sort of system to clean with, or else I will typically get overwhelmed and forget to do certain things.
I also like to strip the bed and get the sheets in the wash in the morning, so I have plenty of time to finish all of the laundry.
After that I will tidy up our bedroom, vacuum upstairs if need be, and then change out the litter boxes since we have two cats.
Doing all of this cleaning on Sunday makes my week go SO much smoother and easier than if I try to leave the cleaning until Monday. I feel like my morning starts out so much better when I come downstairs on Monday morning to a clean kitchen and house! I also accomplish SO much more with my day when I don’t waste my “best hours” cleaning the house. I really am a morning person, and I get a lot more done in the mornings, than I do in the afternoon and evenings.
It has even been scientifically proven that clutter and mess can raise your anxiety levels, so it really doesn’t hurt to try it to get it accomplished! And bonus points if you can get the family and husband to help clean as well!
On Sunday afternoons I like to relax on the couch and maybe watch some Netflix or read a book, or do some small errands like Home Depot or something else that we need to do.
I have been trying to use our overhead lighting less as well too, and have been using candles and LED candles in place of the harsh lighting. The only bad part is it makes me sleepy when the house is dark! haha But the candles are MUCH better for you in the long run.
Finally, I like to end the day with a nice long bubble bath. I like to add a whole bunch of things to my bath to make it relaxing and also to pamper my skin.
I start with Epsom salts, then I will typically add in an organic bath bomb. Then I like to add essential oils like eucalyptus, lemongrass, rosemary, and lavender. Then lastly some CBD oil and coconut oil to hydrate the skin.
The bath smells SO good after this and my skin is nice and smooth and not dried out after I get out of the bath. Just be careful not to bust your face getting out of the tub since it might be a little slippery!
I also like to put on some relaxing music or sometimes even a relaxing meditation on my Bose speaker and maybe even read a book on my Kindle.
Don’t forget to lower the lights and light the candles either! They really do set the mood and make the whole thing feel like a spa experience!
And if you don’t want to use real candles, then Amazon has tons of LED battery operated candles that you can pick up! Then you don’t have to worry if the candle is toxic or not or worry about the fire hazard š
